The only way to use the app is to have a cable service provider. It should be available to those of us who DONT have cable.

Please add location service while using the app. Having it always on depletes my battery.

I get the alerts fine, but when I try to open the app on my phone or iPad except in my own home on my network I get a data error- it say connect to a network - my phone is always connected....

I receive news notifications, however when I click on the story I am directed to Blinds to Go. At this point, one is forced to watch their ad and to listen to their jingle. There is no getting out of watching, you are trapped. Even when following a thunderstorm warning in your area you are subjected to the same lengthy ads. Not worth the time you are forced to watch for a minuscule piece of news.

This app is the most aggravating news app. I was forced to give it a full star or otherwise, Id give it half of a star. The articles are written with limited information, videos are short and do not show whats in the thumbnail, and the ads are over repetitive and obnoxious. Not to mention the videos glitch and if you have to restart a video, you have to treat her the ad thats almost longer than the video itself. Id rather experience some of the tragic news its trying to report on than have to learn about it from this app.

This USED to be my go-to local news app. However this latest update has made me ready to uninstall it. I enjoy reading the articles and sometimes will click an interesting video, however now if there is a video available it plays automatically when you click on the article! And theres no way to stop it. I was at the library and clicked on an article and the video started playing and I got several snarky looks from people. I dont mind watching an ad before a video I WANT to watch, but dont FORCE me to watch one just to read a story. You already have banner ads. Quit trying to pay for the Olympic coverage by making your loyal news buffs watch ads for videos that they do not even want to watch. If this doesnt change there are PLENTY of other news apps for New York out there. It wont hurt me to delete this one.

I would like to read this as I was going to bed. As sometimes my partner was asleep. With this auto video situation its horrible. Please go back to the old way.

At least mute the video if you must play it. I couldnt even read an article bc there was no way to mute or stop an ad. Ill no longer be using this app.

This has been my favorite go-to news app for YEARS. Why did you force the videos to auto play? The majority of the time I am checking news is at work or in meetings or quiet places. Without warning these videos go off, sometimes I cant even stop them and Im forced to close the app. Revert back, abort mission.

I wish I still could choose what videos to watch. Since all videos start on their own I cant read the news whenever I want. I am now looking elsewhere for my news reading.

I used to love this news app but the changes in the latest update ruined it for me. I dont want to see videos - I want to read the news stories. The videos start without my "asking" them to and are impossible to close. I dealt with it for a while - then uninstalled the app today. Awful!!!!

Until you added automatic audio ads that played over and over, you had one of the best news Apps, ever! Now you have the worst, so Ive dropped you. I dont mind ads that can be read, but audio that is totally intrusive is horrible, and unwanted. If you think Ill ever buy anything advertised this way, your advertisers have been misled.

Listen to the feedback. Auto play of videos is very annoying and kills the user experience and your brand. Although a very quick way to get 1 star ratings.

Was a good app. Deleting it because of the annoying video auto play.

This app was my main news app prior to the last update. Now I can only look at it in private because the auto play of videos with sound even when my phone is on silent. Additionally, the videos keep playing, which ate all my data for the month. Will hope for better in the next update. Until then, finding another local news app to use and will avoid this one.

I follow NBC NY on Twitter. The post links on new stories that open this app. All that displays for me is the headline. Deleted and reinstalled nothing.

The previous version of this app was decent, but the current iteration is just garbage. You cant disable the auto-play on videos (and now, theyve introduced ads preceding the videos so youre forced to watch the ad while trying to read the article synopsis). They removed the Sports section because, well, you know, NYC has no sports going on. Overall, a complete garbage app.

This app used to be great but since the last update it doesnt work. How does a group like NBCs flagship station let this happen?

All I wanted was the weather - I used to love this app, but now Ill go elsewhere for planning my day. Lease bring back the old just the weather app.

Auto-plays videos and pushes ads when you try to close out of the video. Uninstalled.
